2005/2006 was an exciting year for Biscom. The government has become concerned over rising administration costs and has decided to economise. This has led to fundamental opportunities for Biscom, rising from our quality reputation and ability to perform.

The government strategy ended in a bidding round which drastically cut the provider base from 200 to 2 in Birmingham and a policy of lead providers. Biscom was successful in the bidding round and has become Lead Provider in Birmingham and a sub-contractor in other areas. This change in government strategy has led to expansion and a very positive future for the company.

The Directors have shown their commitment to the future of the company by investing heavily in the last few months. Computer systems have been put in place to compete and challenge the larger multi-national organisations and stand-alone premises have been chosen and invested in which are in ideal locations and perfect for training.

Quality has always been key to the operation however as a result of the new contracts, Biscom have invested in a Director of Quality and Improvement to continue and advance this side of the operation.

It has been a very challenging time for the staff but we feel it is generally recognised that Biscom has now become a much more strategic and influential provider in the Midlands and is ideally placed to take advantage of future opportunities.

2005/2006 has also seen Biscom take over its sister company 2C Work and Learn. It was considered strategically important that the companies merged, creating a larger organisation that has economies of scale to compete in both markets. It was also felt that the Biscom management and new, perfect, premises would benefit 2C workforce and morale.
